Global Leadership Education（グローバル・リーダーシップ・エデュケーション）
GLE (Global Leadership Education) is an experiential learning program that goes beyond the framework of traditional Japanese school education. It empowers high school students to take the lead in planning and producing events in collaboration with artists from around the world.
GLE（Global Leadership Education）は、日本の従来の学校教育の枠を超え、高校生が主体となって海外アーティストと協働し、イベントの企画・運営・実施を行う体験型教育プログラムです。
1）What Kind of Program Is GLE?｜どんな活動？
This program was launched in 2013 and began at Urakami Cathedral in Nagasaki, a site deeply connected to the atomic bombing and now recognized as a powerful symbol of peace and reconstruction.Since then, the program has expanded to regions across Japan, where students in local communities continue these activities and develop them within their own cities.
この活動は2013年にスタートしました。原子爆弾が投下され、その後の復興と平和の象徴である長崎・浦上天主堂を原点としています。その後、活動は全国各地へと広がり、現在では地方都市の生徒たちが中心となって、地域に根ざした取り組みを継続しています。

2）Program Overview｜プログラム概要
This hands-on educational program is designed for junior high and high school students. Participants form an organizing committee and take the lead in planning and managing professional concert workshops.The program also includes workshops for amateur and young artists, as well as masterclasses for professional musicians, offering learning opportunities across multiple levels.
本プログラムは、中高生向けの実践型教育プログラムです。生徒自身が組織委員会を立ち上げ、プロフェッショナルなコンサートワークショップの企画・運営を主体的に行います。また、アマチュアや若手アーティストの音楽性を高めるワークショップに加え、プロフェッショナル向けのマスタークラスも実施し、幅広いレベルで学びと実績を積み重ねています。

3）Why Music?｜なぜ音楽なのか
Music has the power to connect people beyond language, culture, and national borders.
At GLE, music serves as a shared language that allows individuals of different generations and backgrounds to engage with one another on equal footing and build meaningful connections.
The process of creating music—from planning and preparation to rehearsal and performance—is itself a powerful learning experience. It requires responsibility, collaboration, focus, and the courage to express oneself.
Through these experiences, students learn to think independently, take action, and work together toward a shared goal.
By connecting with the world and society through music, GLE creates opportunities for young people to grow as global leaders.
This is why music lies at the heart of our program.
音楽は、言葉や文化、国境を越えて人と人をつなぐ力を持っています。
GLEでは、音楽を「共通言語」として用いることで、世代や国籍の異なる人々が対等な立場で関わり合い、心を通わせる場を創出してきました。
また、音楽は舞台に立つまでのプロセスそのものが学びの連続です。企画、準備、リハーサル、本番に至るまで、責任感、協働、集中力、そして表現する力が求められます。
こうした経験は、生徒一人ひとりが自ら考え、行動し、他者と協力しながら目標を達成する力を育みます。
音楽を通して世界と出会い、社会とつながる。それが、GLEが音楽を軸に活動する理由です。
※Even during the COVID-19 pandemic, when global travel and cross-border exchange were severely restricted, we continued to take on new challenges.A New York–based, Grammy Award–winning jazz pianist, Alon Yavnai, composed an original piece titled “Sunny Day (Keep Looking Up and Moving Forward).”
The completed audio track was shared with collaborators in Nagasaki, Kurashiki, and Aomori, as well as with Israeli percussionist Joca Perpignan. Each participant recorded their performance remotely, and the collected videos were later edited into a single unified work.
This project was an especially challenging endeavor, made possible only through creativity and collaboration across distance.
We hope that, particularly for students who were unable to experience normal school life during that time, this project became an unforgettable and meaningful part of their lives.
コロナ禍により世界の往来が閉ざされる中でも、私たちは活動を止めることなく挑戦を続けました。ニューヨーク在住のグラミー賞受賞ジャズピアニスト、アロン・ヤブナイ氏に、「Sunny Day（未来に向かって進もう）」 という楽曲を作曲していただきました。完成した音源は、長崎、倉敷、青森、そしてイスラエルのパーカッショニスト ジョカ・ペルピニャン氏へと送り、それぞれが遠隔で演奏を録画しました。集められた映像を編集し、一つの作品として完成させました。距離を越えて音楽をつなぐ、非常にチャレンジングな取り組みでした。とりわけ、通常の学校生活を送ることができなかった生徒たちにとって、この経験が心に残る大切な思い出の一つとなっていればと願っています。

4）Why Junior High & High School Students?｜なぜ中高生なのか？
When students feel the world is at their reach,, their future choices naturally expand.
Junior high and high school are formative years, when students begin to reflect on who they are and consider their future paths.
Experiencing real engagement with society and feeling the world as something close during this stage can greatly expand their future possibilities.
At GLE, we intentionally entrust students with real responsibility.
By planning and managing large-scale concerts, students discover that they can contribute meaningfully to society.
Through meeting new people, exchanging ideas, and overcoming challenges together, students gain learning experiences that go far beyond the classroom.
These experiences build confidence and form the foundation for independent thinking and action as future global leaders.
世界を身近に感じたとき、生徒たちの未来の選択肢は大きく広がります。
中学生・高校生は、自分自身と向き合い、将来の進路や生き方について考え始める大切な時期です。この時期に、教室の外で実社会とつながり、世界を身近に感じる経験を持つことは、その後の選択肢を大きく広げます。GLEでは、中高生にあえて本物の責任ある役割を任せています。大型コンサートの企画・運営という挑戦を通して、生徒たちは「自分にも社会でできることがある」という実感を得ていきます。人と出会い、意見を交わし、困難を乗り越えながら一つの舞台を完成させる経験は、知識以上に深い学びとなります。こうした体験こそが、生徒一人ひとりの自信を育み、将来に向かって自ら考え、行動する力の土台となるのです。
※In this Music clip , high school students from Nagasaki took the lead in bringing together jazz and brass band students from the local community, ranging from elementary school to university level. For this special occasion, they formed a big band of over 100 musicians.
They also conducted workshops under the guidance of Valery Ponomarev, who was the first white member of the legendary jazz group The Jazz Messengers, visiting from New York.
This project represents a unique collaboration that connected generations and communities through music.
この映像は、長崎の高校生が中心となり、この日のために地元の小学生から大学生までのジャズやブラスバンドに取り組む生徒たちを一堂に集め、100名を超えるビッグバンドを結成しました。また、ニューヨークから、伝説的ジャズグループ「ジャズ・メッセンジャーズ」において初の白人メンバーとして活躍したヴァレリー・ポノマレフ氏の指導を仰ぎ、ワークショップを実施しました。世代や地域を越えた協働によって生まれた、特別な取り組みです。

The ability to think critically, make decisions, and take action in situations without predefined answers.Through planning and managing large-scale concerts for audiences of 1,000 to 2,000 people, students develop initiative, a strong sense of ownership, and responsibility.

The ability to communicate effectively and collaborate with people of different ages, roles, and cultural backgrounds.
Students learn how to listen, share ideas, negotiate, and work as a team toward a common goal.

Execution & Responsibility
By handling audience development, sponsor coordination, and other real-world responsibilities, students learn to overcome challenges and complete projects with confidence.

集客やスポンサー集めなどの実務を担いながら、さまざまな課題を乗り越え、プロジェクトを完遂することで、粘り強さ、信頼性、そして自信を育みます。
Hospitality & Empathy 人を思いやる力（ホスピタリティ＆共感力）
The ability to consider others’ perspectives and create meaningful experiences for them.By thinking from the audience’s and community’s point of view, students learn empathy, respect, and the essence of hospitality.
Contributing to the enrichment of local culture also gives young people a strong sense of purpose and fulfillment, helping them recognize their role in society and the joy of making a positive impact.
来場者や地域の方々の立場に立って物事を考え、心に残る体験を創り出す力。

GLE (Global Leadership Education) is an experiential learning program that goes beyond the framework of traditional Japanese school education. It empowers high school students to take the lead in planning and producing events in collaboration with artists from around the world.
Working closely with international artists provides students with invaluable opportunities to encounter diverse cultures, perspectives, and values. These experiences help them develop a global mindset and a deeper understanding of the world beyond their own borders.
In GLE, students are involved in every stage of the process—from inviting overseas artists to planning, promoting, and managing events. Through these real-world challenges, students learn to identify what they can contribute and to take initiative with purpose and determination, guided by the core themes of global awareness and leadership.
High school students voluntarily organize large-scale concerts with audiences of 1,000 to 2,000 people at venues across Japan. Their responsibilities include marketing and promotion, hosting events in English, delivering speeches on stage, and collaborating with local communities to ensure the success of each performance alongside the invited artists.
Through this process, students acquire practical skills in planning, communication, and execution—skills that are valued and recognized in society. By viewing events from the audience’s perspective, they also learn the essence of hospitality: how to anticipate others’ needs and create meaningful, memorable experiences.
GLE seeks to give young people the opportunity to engage with society and connect with the world while they are still students.
Our activities continue with the vision of building a bridge between Japan and the world—through creativity, collaboration, and leadership.
GLE（Global Leadership Education）は、日本の従来の学校教育の枠を超え、高校生が主体となって海外アーティストと協働し、イベントの企画・運営・実施を行う体験型教育プログラムです。
海外アーティストと直接関わりながら活動することは、生徒にとって多様な文化や価値観に触れる貴重な機会となり、世界を多角的に捉える視点や、グローバルな感覚を育むことにつながります。
GLEでは、海外アーティストの招聘から、イベントの企画、広報、運営に至るまで、すべてのプロセスに高校生が深く関わります。生徒たちは「自分たちに何ができるのか」を自ら考え、グローバルとリーダーシップを軸に、主体性と責任感をもって行動する経験を重ねていきます。
生徒たちは、日本各地で開催される1,000〜2,000席規模のコンサートを自主的に企画・運営します。集客や広報活動、英語での司会進行やステージ上でのスピーチに加え、海外アーティストと共に舞台を成功させるため、地域社会と連携しながらイベントを作り上げていきます。
こうした実践を通して、生徒たちは社会で求められる企画力・コミュニケーション力・実行力を身につけていきます。また、来場者の視点に立って考えることで、「どのようにすれば人に喜んでもらえるのか」というホスピタリティの本質を学びます。
GLEは、若いうちから社会と関わり、教室の外で世界とつながる経験を提供することを目指しています。
